Elpida Wreck – private guided dive in Cyprus

The Elpida was a Greek container ship and the name means hope in Greek. She is about 70 metres long and lies now near Larnaca in Cyprus at a depth of up to 30 metres.

The general areas and the bridge are between 20 and 14 metres deep.

The top of the masts is 10 metres and the wreck stands upright on the seabed, making it very photogenic. Our Event with a private scuba guide includes one dive with full equipment, rubber boat transfer to the dive spot and pick up service Larnaca and Agia Napa Area.

What’s waiting for you

The wreck of the Elpida has a total length of around 70 metres, a width of 10 metres and lies on the seabed at a height of 30 metres. When you descend onto the wreck, the top of the mast is only 10 metres below the surface and the deck is 20 metres deep.

It is not uncommon to see schools of amberjacks circling the bridge on the hunt for their next meal. Groupers, damselfish and, unfortunately, lionfish are already at home on the Elpida wreck.

Elpida translates from Greek as „hope“, which is very fitting as this latest wreck to be sunk and set up as an artificial reef gives us hope that this project will encourage more programmes and measures to be introduced in the future to restore the Mediterranean around Cyprus to a thriving marine life and encourage more divers to visit this beautiful island.

Participation is possible from the age of 16 and you have at least an Open Water Diver certification from a recognised diving organisation. In a declaration, you confirm that you are in good health and that you will abide by the „rules of the game“. And off you go. If you are a minor, a parent or guardian must be present at the dive site.

Please note

• We will pick you up at your hotel or arrange a meeting point with you. We will then take you on your Adventure Dive, without the stress, hectic pace and time pressure of other guests. So our dive with you is very personal.
• Your needed equipment ist included. Please let us know your clothing and shoe size when you book. Soft drinks are also included .
• To participate in this event, you must be at least 15 years old, be min. a certified Open Water Diver and fill out a health questionnaire. For minors, a parent or guardian must be present at the event.
• We will pick you up at your hotel between 8:00 to 8:30 depending on how far away your hotel is located.

Our special service for you:

We will be happy to pick you up from your hotel free of charge if you are staying in the Agia Napa – Protaras – Paralimni region, or in Larnaca Destrict
(e.g. Oroklini – Pyla – Livadia – Larnaca City). Pick up is also possible for more distant routes, but we will then charge a small surcharge.
